They say that the eyes are the mirror of the soul. Damir’s eyes are incredibly deep, and for a long time an entire world was hidden within them — a world where only a chosen few were allowed to enter.
Damir has a strong sense of character: he intuitively understands people and never allows close contact with those he does not trust.
Damir’s journey with our Adaptation Center for Teenagers with Disabilities did not begin with exercises or activities, but with the quiet and careful building of trust. In the beginning, our team focused simply on becoming “safe people” for him. It was a period of observation, gentle interaction, and deep respect for his personal boundaries. We understood that until Damir chose to open the door to his world himself, it could never be forced open.
The progress Damir has made has deeply inspired everyone who remembers his very first days at the Center.
🔥 Social Inclusion:
Where Damir once avoided noisy groups and preferred to stay apart, today he is often at the center of activities and group interaction.
🔥 Music as a Source of Confidence:
The music group became a place where Damir truly began to shine. Today he is not only actively engaged himself, but also encourages and emotionally supports other children, becoming an important source of energy within the group.
🔥 Confidence in New Challenges:
In the past, Damir chose only familiar and “safe” activities. Today, his curiosity is stronger than fear. He confidently tries new experiences and unfamiliar tasks, developing both gross and fine motor skills along the way.
🔥 Emotional Growth:
Damir’s emotional progress can be measured in hugs. For him, a hug is not simply a greeting — it is the highest expression of trust. When he hugs members of the team, we understand that he has allowed us into his world. In his own way, he is showing that he trusts us with something deeply valuable — himself.
