We still vividly remember the day Fedir first arrived at our Centre, clutching his mother’s hand.
What sticks in the memory most is his mother’s sheer anxiety. She was desperately worried whether we could take her son in, as he was slightly younger than our official ’12+’ age limit. As it turned out, Fedir became the very reason we scrapped that ’12+’ rule at the Adaptation Centre altogether! 🤗
Back then, Fedia barely left his mother’s side. He was terrified to let go of her hand, and every new face felt like a daunting challenge.
However, we began our work, step by step, building trust and creating a safe haven for him. To witness his transformation since then has been nothing short of a miracle — a sentiment shared by every specialist working individually with this young man.
Today, Fedir spends the full day at the Centre (under our day-care social service for children with Group A disabilities).
He has blossomed from a child who feared strangers into a sociable young man who engages with other children and beams with joy during music therapy and group sessions. He has even reached the point where he warmly embraces every member of our team.
Currently, we are focusing intensively on behavioural therapy. It is more than just a dream; we are pouring all our efforts into the hope that Fedir will finally say those long-awaited, precious words: “Mum, Dad, I love you.” ❣️
It brings us boundless joy to know that his mother now has time for herself and a well-earned rest, knowing Fedir is in a space where he is truly loved and accepted for who he is.
This is a story of small steps leading to great triumphs. 🙏🫶
